Aah! Aha! Ha-Ha
The punchline from Agastya International Foundation and the
perfect way to sum up the experience of 50 eager, enthusiastic HPE volunteers
visiting the 172 acre Agastya Campus at Kuppam.
The two days at Kuppam were eventful and inspiring in many
ways. Agastya Foundation is completely committed towards taking
science and technology to the students in rural india using mobile Labs. The
HPE team was introduced to the concept learning using ‘touch and feel’ methodology
at various permanent Labs inside the campus, visited by 500+ students per day. It
was awe-inspiring to see how difficult concepts of Ampere’s Law, Eclipse,
seasons, potential/kinetic energy, etc. can be explained to students with ease
through simple, practical demonstrations.
The HPE volunteers also contributed in setting up the
landscape through trimming and planting trees. A small effort to support the
Agastya Foundation.
This was followed by a well spent evening at a government
school with volunteers from Agastya Foundation introducing their vision of
‘Creative India’. It was remarkable to see how these volunteers spend time in
nurturing and inspiring students though free sessions post school timings.
Operation Vasantha is an effort to by these volunteers to nurture creativity in
kids from such schools. Naveen during his motivational and inspirational
conversation stressed the importance of attending school and how they students
can realize all their dreams. The HPE team also distributed stationary to all
students. The team finally retired for the day, discussing and recollecting the
sparkle visible in the eyes of these students who may be challenged with money
but not short of talent, confidence and the potential…
The next day started
with a visit around the campus. The team got to know how the students are
allowed to connect and co-exist with nature. A well thought and planned effort
to convert such a big barren land into an ecological marvel in less than 20
years. The second phase of the second day was spent in cleaning the
Kuppam Railway station. It was a great message by the HPE Social Impact team
towards its support for ‘Clean India’ and clearly an inspiration for all
travelers who saw this team in action. While leaving the Agastya Foundation Campus, all volunteers
felt connected with the mission and vision of the foundation, promising to
themselves to support this noble cause in their own way.
The two day event was extremely inspiring and also provided
a sense gratification for all the volunteers.
